Sustainability

We take responsibility
for our environment.

Entrepreneurship, as we see it, means comprehensive responsibility for our society. Consequently, the economic success of the Dauphin HumanDesign® Group is linked to a company policy which deliberately focuses on the principles of sustainability and sensible environmental protection. At our company, active environmental protection measures and a committed, responsible relationship with nature are in harmony with environmental legislation and standards. In addition, we ourselves set high standards and strive to ensure that relevant developments occur within the desired framework.

Environmental and social report EMAS brochure

To present this responsibility in a detailed way, we have compiled a sustainability report that highlights what we do to act in a sustainable, responsible and entrepreneurial way.

We pledge to do
business sustainably

We confirm our sustainable and responsible approach to business with independent certifications from various management systems.

Since 2003, we have successfully introduced an environmental management system based on the specifications in the international standard DIN EN ISO 14001 and we expanded this in 2010 to encompass the stricter Regulation (EC) No. 1221/2009 (EMAS). This reflects our commitment not only towards complying with all environmental laws and regulations but also towards systematically improving the company's environmental record on an ongoing basis.

With the EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme), companies and organisations can demonstrate that they take responsibility for their actions in accordance with the requirements of DIN ISO 14001 and beyond.

We make a statement

Bavarian Environmental Pact

When Dauphin joined the Bavarian Environmental + Climate Pact in 2007, it made a statement that, beyond what was required by the legislation, it responsibly championed an even better environment, climate and habitat.

Blue Angel

The Blue Angel is the ecolabel of the federal government. Independent and credible, the Blue Angel sets high standards for environmentally friendly product design.

Environmental Flower

The EU Ecolabel symbolises protection of the environment right across Europe and denotes products and services with a reduced environmental impact.

FEMB level certification

Comprehensive European sustainability standard. A programme for verifying and certifying eco-friendly furniture for offices and public areas that has been manufactured in a socially responsible way.

We act responsibly
with partners

Sustainable working, production and thinking is important to us. From start to finish, from the initial design to waste disposal, our processes are geared to developing high-quality, long-lasting and environmentally friendly products. But we do even more: With the EMAS certification we voluntarily commit to continuously improve our environmental performance.

To achieve this, we follow the Dauphin Green Cycle when we develop new products. For the first time, with the Dauphin Indeed automatic, we are now offering a completely emissions-free office swivel chair that illustrates our commitment to sustainability in the areas of design & ergonomics, sourcing, production, logistics, lifecycle and recycling.

We are reducing our carbon footprint

Everyone has a carbon footprint

As a business, we generate emissions when we manufacture and produce products. To reduce this footprint, we follow the steps of Avoid, Reduce and Compensate, with the first two steps already forming part of the Dauphin Green Cycle.

What does climate-neutral mean?

Climate neutrality based on the definition by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) means that human activities have zero net impact on the climate system and any remaining emissions are offset by corresponding reductions in emissions. The products and services produced must not result in an increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

CO2 compensation with the right environmental partner

To compensate for the emissions that are generated during the production of the Indeed automatic, we work with the climate protection agency natureOffice and compensate for the proportion of unavoidable CO2 emissions by investing in the integrated climate protection project “Project Togo”. This climate protection project comprises various projects for improving the environment and the circumstances in which people live in Togo and has a specific impact in the following five areas: water, health, education, energy and work.

17 UN Sustainable Development Goals

We were very keen to have a partner by our side that, just like Dauphin, has signed up to the 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development of the United Nations. We found this partner in the shape of natureOffice. We fully recognise the 17 Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the member countries of the UN in Agenda 2030 and focus in particular on six goals that we can influence directly.

We campaign for clean oceans

Every year, 12 million tonnes of plastic waste end up in our oceans. And the production of polymers and plastics continues to increase at an exponential rate. Just 9 per cent of the plastic produced globally is recycled.

The Seaqual Initiative has set itself the goal of actively campaigning to clean up the oceans and protect the marine environments and their inhabitants that are under great threat. We are the first office furniture manufacturer in Germany to have joined the global organisation, which removes plastic waste from oceans, rivers and beaches by instigating clean-up campaigns, for example. The SEAQUAL INITIATIVE is a global community of NGOs, fishermen, scientists, authorities and private stakeholders. All the waste that is collected is then processed by certified manufacturers to produce the high-tech SEAQUAL® YARN. This is a 100% recycled polyester fibre that contains at least 10% recycled marine plastic.

The “Sealife” fabric collection is spun from 100% SEAQUAL YARN and has been offered in our range since the product launch of the Indeed automatic.
